At this West LA outpost of a Tokyo-based chain, the menu offers "unique" Japanese specialties like kamado (iron-pot) rice – which arrives "fragrant" and "piping hot" – as well as grilled items and sushi in a sleek, minimalist setting; it's not inexpensive, but service is professional and lunch and happy-hour drink specials provide some relief.

A good restaurant experience is definitely about the food. No arguments on that. But also the overall experience, which takes into account the staff, the setting, the ambiance, the service you expect and receive, the quality and freshness of the food is critical.

夕食は｢Wadatsumi by Hirakawa(旧Torafuku)｣でしゃぶしゃぶ和牛を･･････サード通りの｢Takamaru(旧Mishima)｣とラシエネガ通りの｢Tabu Restaurant｣が閉まって以来、和食全般といえば、ここが一番近くなりました。ラーメンや寿司やおむすびの専門店は近くにあるものの、うどんや蕎麦といった麺類から定食や寿司といったご飯ものまで和風全般を食べられる店が遠くなったのは、やはり淋しい時があります。

夕食はピコ通りの｢Torafuku｣へ行くと名前が｢Wadatsumi by Harikawa｣と変わっていたものの、Harikawaというのは、もともとTorafukuのオーナー･シェフの名前で基本的に以前と同じ中身です。とりあえず、黒毛和牛のひつまぶし(早い話が和牛茶漬け)をいただきました。

This food is over priced for its portion size. The rice tasted stale and old. I paid $12 for their popular grilled teriyaki chicken bowl...very disappointing.
