Hand-painted tiles in soft blue and burnt orange are offset by large ironwork decorations, huge hanging lanterns, and intricately framed mirrors in this bustling restaurant. Large windows and soft lighting enhance the room. Owned by James… Read More

Poquitos Restaurant Review

Don't try too hard to hear anything at Poquitos; this place is for looking at the beautiful people and, through the moody lighting, the sexy ironwork decorations. James Weimann and Deming Maclise, masterminds behind the Ballard hot-spot Bastille, opened this spot to dish up authentic Mexican cuisine prepared with local Northwest ingredients. From the main dining room, enjoy views of the open...

"Spicy" takes on classics and "purist margaritas" head up the midpriced menu at this Capitol Hill Mexican; a "beautifully designed" interior includes tiles and ironwork, and the "heated patio" is an added plus, but opinions are divided on the service ("spot-on" vs. "nothing memorable").

The albacore tuna ceviche special was amazing, and my husband really enjoyed his carnitas tacos. The biggest blight of the evening was the tortilla soup, it was awful! The base tasted like enchilada sauce from a can, so I would not recommend it. Drinks were great.

Lard-free cooking is certainly progressive but it lacks authentic character, especially in the chips (which are not included w/o charge). Have been a few times and the staff has an attitude like you are lucky to be served by them. Always in a rush and no attempt to...

Food was OK but nothing special. Service was slow and poor - we were brought the wrong order, which we kept, but no compensation was offered for the higher price. Then we ordered two glasses of wine but only one arrived. Had the impression the waiter wasn't really paying attention.

As General Manager, I work with our other Operating Owner, Dustin Watson, to oversee the day-to-day business of the restaurant. I've worked in the Seattle restaurant business for the last 15 years but started my restaurant career way back in 1988 as a freshman in college. Locally, I've worked at a variety of places that includes the Baltic Room, Bad Juju Lounge, Peso's, Mona's, and Havana. Our...

The enclosed patio at Poquitos, a Mexican restaurant on Seattle's Capitol Hill, is a welcome destination on sunny and cloudy days alike. Sliding windows open to let in the breeze during hot weather and fireplaces warm you when it's cold outside. Poquitos unique take on Mexican cuisine is usually spicy hot, with representative dishes from the country's many regions. Oaxacan mole - the darkly...
