Chapeau's service is near the top in the city and more importantly the food is wonderful too. There are so many mid to upper level restaurants in San Francisco that don't seem to give a care about providing the custormer with truly professional service. At Chapeau you feel welcome and taken care of from the very moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave. The menu is wondrful and I've literally never had a bad meal there. You shouldn't have to go to an expensive restaurant to get professional service.

This is the first 'ritzy' French bistro I have been to in San Francisco, so pardon my novice review and...
"Chapeau" in French means "hat," but the exclamatory "chapeau!" is something like "wow!"
The impressive wine selection features a number of by-the-glass options, which can also be ordered in half-glass portions for those who want just a taste.
Make you reservation between 5pm and 6pm Mondays through Thursdays to take advantage of the early bird prix fixe: $28 for your choice of appetizer, entree and dessert.
