"They really bust the piñata" at this midpriced Mexican trio where the fajitas are "sizzling" and "the tequilas are many"; the colorfully rustic settings have optional patio dining, and though sticklers call out "forgettable" fare, "extreme" noise and spotty service, the majority applauds the "upscale approach."

Loop workers unwind over an extensive selection of tequilas and tableside-prepped guacamole at this creative Mexican cantina.

Zapatista Restaurant Review: Power lunches and post-work munchies are the draw at this innovative, boisterous Mexican spot, which serves Serrano-zapped, tableside guacamole (with jícama sticks, no less) to spice-seekers. A fine starter is the cornmeal-crusted calamari with a spicy citrus aïoli and roasted pineapple-tomato salsa for dipping, but the shrimp empanadas, in our experience, were less...

If famed Mexican land-reform revolutionary Emiliano Zapata and this gigantic restaurant named for his followers could have found common ground, perhaps it would have been at Zapatista’s $5 weekend brunch, where huevos rancheros bravely battle “sangria-ritas” for territory on the menu. (That’s sangria and frozen margarita mix, vato.) Or perhaps it would have been at the bar during “Jorge’s...

Regional Mexican fare and tequila aplenty make this South Loop hacienda a hit with downtown execs.

One of the best restaurants in the neighborhood. There was an online rumor that it closed. I was skeptical because neighborhood restaurants that aren't as good are still open.

Very good classic Mexican food. The patio is great in the summer and the margaritas are delicious. I recommend El Bigote which is a blend of margarita, piña colada, and mojito. Love this place.
