Historic downtown Plano scores another destination restaurant, this time sleek, upscale Zanata, with pastas and amazing pizzas baked in a wood-burning oven. Wait a minute. That sounds like Urban Crust, the pizza joint right up the street. It’s a bit strange for chef Ted Grieb and partner Al Lefere to open a similar concept in such close proximity to a competitor, but they like old downtowns....

Visited here on a recent trip to Plano. Ordered a few of their pizzas, and washed it down with copious amounts of beer and wine. All were delicious. The pizzas were creative and cooked in a wood oven (the best way in my opinion.

I live this place! Now that we discovered it we always go there. Their pizzas are so creative and delicious! I have tried just about all of them. My favorite is the central! I live that it has chorizo!

Owners Kevin and Al Lefere serve pizza with chew and char, and toppings such as soft potato, rosemary, pancetta, and egg. We love the pie with individual Brussels sprout leaves, bacon, and plump chanterelles. Gnocchi comes with foie gras, spinach, toasted almonds, and prunes. No bottle of wine exceeds $60; most are available by the glass.
