Help us make it rightXiomara Ardolina, who was born in Cuba and came to the United States at the age of 13, has established herself as one of the top restaurateurs in Southern California. Her first restaurant, The Epicurean in La Canada, operated for 12 successful years and was considered by many as the best in fine dining. In 1991, Xiomara relocated her restaurant to the newly rejuvenated Old Pasadena, renaming it...
Start with one Mambo to ease into the tropical rhythm of Xiomara's high-spirited Nuevo Latino food. Sipping this cool, long drink between bites of tropical appetizers, the annoyances of the day recede. Life seems sweeter. To start, the kitchen might send out a complimentary slice of Spanish tortilla. Closer to an Italian frittata than a Mexican tortilla, it's essentially a layered omelet laced...
After fifteen successful years in Pasadena, Xiomara Pasadena has been sold. Xiomara on Melrose, now the sole restaurant of owner, Xiomara Ardolina, serves the same New Latin cuisine Ms. Ardolina brought to the original Pasadena location. With the recent addition of an Authentic Cuban Menu, guests may enjoy Xiomara favorites such as Spicy Duck Ropa Vieja (shredded duck with marinated Cuban style...
Restaurateur Xiomara Ardolina is behind this sexy coffee-colored space featuring a cool mezzanine dining room lined with wrought iron railing. Tables are dressed in crisp white linens, candles flicker throughout, and a stately mirrored bar is busy dispensing what may be some of the best mojitos in town (it is one of the few places this far from Havana that juices its own sugarcane for the...
Xiomara Ardolina turns out an "eclectic" array of "well-executed" Californian cuisine with Cuban touches at this "easygoing" spot in Hollywood; a "friendly staff", "jazzy" soundtrack and "cozy" Havana-style setup create a "romantic" mood, and almost all agree it has one of "the best mojitos in town"; P.S. it's also a lunch mainstay near Paramount Studios.
The Scene
Xiomara's Hollywood outpost is more modern than the Old Town original, but lush foliage, decorative wrought-iron details and an earthy palette evoke an inviting island...
Delicious food and attention to detail. The staff was perfect and friendly. They should update the look of the restaurant though. Maybe more of an urban setting? Ditch the fine dining, white table cloth look. I'd go again though for the pork hash and perfect mojitos.
I lo9ve this restaurant! Everything about it is terrific. Food, decor, service--it is all outstanding. It is the last of the grownup restaurants where you can have a conversation over sophisticated, delicious food.
Neighborhood Gem!
Beautiful, tasteful decor, ambiance, great menu and drinks, soft jazz and lighting, just a wonderful experience. Tucked into a quiet corner of busy Melrose Avenue, this is the ultimate place for catching up with a friend, a birthday celebration or anniversary, a quiet night out. Food is delicious and creative, staff is so friendly and the place has an old world feel, like...
Excellent service and the food was spectacular!!!... I love the Cuban fusion and the authentic taste!
Cuban Fried Rice was just like my mom's!!!...
¡Love it!
Definitely wasn't one of the memorable valentine's menus i have ever had. Overpriced for what was served, had to ask for bread/chips for a very watered ceviche (wouldn't have been an issue it it wasn't so watery), had to ask for water, candle was brought to the table halfway through the first course. Service was ehhh... The guy had a good attitude but wasn't very attentive, and it wasn't only...
