This is to respond to "gouging". I also went to Worthington to transfer a title and I was also hit with the Fair Market Value and was told to pay about $3K in a higher tax value. I told the lady behind the counter that my vehicle was in no way worth the taxable amount. The lady told me to go to the internet, seach kbb.com, nada.com and edmunds.com, and find a lower "Dealer Retail" value,...
Licensing time again - this place is still number 1! I came in and there were 2 people at the counter and 2 in front of me. Fortunately they were prompt transactions and I was in and out in a flash.
I have been using Worthington for about 20 years
now and they are really great. They know all the
rules inside out and backwards so if you have a
problem they will do their best to make it as easy
as possilbe. Remember...if you do not like what
they are telling you there is probably not much that
can be done about it because they are bound by the
rules also.
Not only is their supposed "Fair Market Value" of any vehicle inflated, mine was inflated by about $3k resulting in hundreds extra tax. The person at the counter was exceeding rude when I explained the circumstances and suggested I "pay it."
These folks went to bat for me, and only charged $10.00. They were so helpful to me when DOL goofed up my title; they were also patient with the mentally ill man in front of me who had a million questions and probably didn't smell very good. The people who work here see EVERYONE. I don't know how they do it. Let us all be reminded to be kind to public servants, and wear deodorant on sweaty...
