Information about this business (1)

As president, Theodore Roosevelt created protections for ordinary citizens, began regulation of big business, and made the United States a major force in international affairs. Yet one of the most important presidencies in America's history nearly didn't happen. See the place where a brief, emotional, and improvised ceremony in Buffalo, NY brought TR into office, and forever altered the nation.

My favorite Buffalo building

Average Rating

As a non-native Western NYer I have probably visited her more than every NYer! Included on each of my tours to visitors I love the architecture, preservation, and history of this home. Saved between two ghastly 1970 structure, thank goodness someone had the sense or not enough cents to raise this gem!

The Inaugural site of Teddy Roosevelt

A nice tour at a tragic event. The home in which McKinley died is a gravel high school parking lot. The Pan Am Exhibition Hall in which he was shot is a median in the middle of a road. So to have the Mansion preserved between two 1970 office buildings is of great value.

The Ansley Wilcox family, friends of Theodore, owned this early 19th-century Greek revival mansion. It became the site of Roosevelt's Presidential inauguration in 1901 following the assassination of President William McKinley, and so was named the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site. The only National Park Service location in Western NY, its displays include items related to the...
