As a non-native Western NYer I have probably visited her more than every NYer! Included on each of my tours to visitors I love the architecture, preservation, and history of this home. Saved between two ghastly 1970 structure, thank goodness someone had the sense or not enough cents to raise this gem!
A nice tour at a tragic event. The home in which McKinley died is a gravel high school parking lot. The Pan Am Exhibition Hall in which he was shot is a median in the middle of a road. So to have the Mansion preserved between two 1970 office buildings is of great value.

Wilcox Mansion is a 19th century Greek revival mansion that was originally owned by the Ansley Wilcox family, who were friends of Theodore Roosevelt. Following the assassination of President William McKinley, it was where Roosevelt was inagurated as President in 1901. It now displays items related to both the assassination and the inaguration, and each August hosts a teddy bear picnic.

The Ansley Wilcox family, friends of Theodore, owned this early 19th-century Greek revival mansion. It became the site of Roosevelt's Presidential inauguration in 1901 following the assassination of President William McKinley, and so was named the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.
