I kinda like browsing in Walgreen, there's a good assortment of hair products, cosmetics and other stuff you didn't know you were looking for until you see.it. The staff overall is never particularly friendly. Oh well I guess that's just how the the Midwest is in general.

Walgreens is in a wonderful location. It's hard to find a store selling similar products in the area. The staff has always been courteous to me. I'm a fan of the weekly sale ad in the World-Herald (and it's also available online).

Register Rewards program. It's not nearly as good as their old monthly rebate program, but it will save me money, especially if I combine it with manufacturers' cents-off coupons. I haven't tried the pharmacy at the Ames store, but it does have the drive-through window. Nice place to shop.

Each store carries 25,000 different items--from cleaning products to electronics and greeting cards. Store features include a computerized system connecting pharmacies nationwide via satellite, grocery-store food aisles, one-hour photofinishing and an automated phone system for prescription refills and pre-arranged pickup times. Other services include in-store flu shots and childhood immunizations.
