I enjoy window-shopping at this bakery because they have really good-looking cakes and pastries, but I have yet to find something that sets of the positive alarms in the tastebuds. Scones (those almost infinitely variable accompaniments to tea or coffee) are so-so (too sweet for my taste), but for sugar-freaks this may be exactly the right place. My friends love...

This place is the real deal and a generational favourite. And yes it is definitely old school - Shortening, Sugar, and Spice, and everything nice! Beyond, taking cookies to school, a better bet would be the pink champagne cake (also a big hit at my office and my son).
