Altstadt is one of a half-dozen or so German-style beer halls in the Seattle area. It's relatively new, and the inside is spiffy and welcoming with big communal tables. There are a dozen beers on tap, focused on German beers, and two dozen or so beers in bottles, again focused on German and other continental beers. Of course, beers are available in liters (the only civilized pour!).

Great food! The kraut braised in duck fat is phenomenal
The food is nowhere close to anything in Germany....and once you have had the real thing, you keep looking, and looking for it here in the USA.
Cool little bier hall in Pioneer Square that makes their sausages and sauerkraut in house. Very tasty lunch at a fair price, though maybe not ideal if you're pressed for time--it took about 35 minutes for our food to emerge. Really outstanding service, and dig the atmosphere and their cute wolpertinger logo!
