Theatergoers choose this "low-key", "fairly priced" Lincoln Park trattoria "near the Steppenwolf" for its "consistently well-prepared" "classic" Italian dishes delivered with "attentive, warm" service; regulars add the "pleasantness" of the villalike surroundings as another reason it's an "old reliable favorite."
Vinci Restaurant Review: Paul LoDuca’s first restaurant has expanded to several elegantly rustic rooms, and it’s easy to see why. The diverse menu has something for everyone, and almost everything turns out well. Start with a light appetizer like carpaccio, or roasted baby eggplant with tomato sauce, basil and goat cheese; then, go on to a pasta or risotto, and consider such secondi as pounded,...
Tried-and-true Tuscan-style Italian fare served in a weathered faux-Italian village setting think exposed-brick, crumbling plaster and wall murals. But who wants to focus on the décor when there's much tastier cheese in your midst, like Parmesan sprinkled on their hand-made butternut squash gnocchi with lamb ragu? Fantastic gluten-free menu features grilled polenta with mushrooms and rice ziti...
The Scene
The decor--plain wood, silky drapes and trompe l'oeil walls--is warm, but not overly done. Servers are sharp and speedy, catering to in-a-hurry, pre-theater diners on their way...
I've enjoyed it many times in the past. It was a bit of a disappointment this time. Food was not as good as I remembered. Waitress was attentive, but the rest of the service was not as warm as it's been.
Once again the wine dinner outdid itself. The food and wine were both wonderful. They took great care of our food allergies. Super service. My favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago.
The restaurant was kind and welcoming, comforting yet Italian elegant. The reservation was honored for a birthday of nine through the system. They took 10%off because of our large grp. Really nice and fun neighborhood! Will absolutely return and recommend! Fun and we stayed all night.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are numerous other choices within a two block radius—all of which are good. Do not waste your time or money at this establishment. The food was inedible.
Richard was a great server -- incredibly attentive and treated our special occasion with great care!
