Help us make it rightThis small Asian fusion restaurant by a husband and wife team is located on Randolph Street in Near West Side area. The emphasis on community dining means you may share your table with strangers, but this is all a part of the Urbanbelly experience. Don't let the strip mall setting deter you. Step inside and you'll find one of Chicago's most talented chefs, Bill Kim. His resume reads like a culinary tome. He's cheffed at Charlie Trotter's and New York's Bouley, for Shawn McClain and… Read More

“Genius” chef-owner Bill Kim’s former Logan Square eatery attaches to the West Loop’s Belly Q, where the “interesting”,“addictive” Asian fusion fare like “satisfying, belly-warming” noodles and “divine dumplings” is “elevated to a high level with quality, flavor and care.” The funky, affordable quick-serve is set in a newly expanded space featuring bar service, separate hours, a living wall and...
Bill Kim unveiled the relocated Urban Belly today at 11 a.m., now situated adjacent to BellyQ on the far west end of Randolph Row. Renovating the former BellyQ takeout area in just about two weeks, Urban Belly is now nearly twice as large (60 seats), serves an expanded menu, and offers delivery. "It feels like a brand new restaurant," Kim says.
While saying the menu is "90 percent the same,"...

Mushroom Pho was delicious, and my husband enjoyed the lemongrass chicken.
We came from Miami to Chicago to visit some friends and found Urbanbelly by accident; and we are so happy we did! The food is so flavorful and fresh! The place is very trendy and the staff are very courteous! I even got me one of their shirts!!! Had to stop by again!
The Original Ramen was hot, favorful, & spicy excellent! Our pork & cilantro dumplings were made to perfection, & the maple donuts were the perfect the end to our lovely meal. I would go back in a heartbeat. Well done, Bill Kim!
Nice and warm ambience. Excellent Fusion Asian food. We tried many dishes and each one was tasty, well presented. You have to try the vietnamese donuts desert! Super yummy!
Please bring this to studio city (Los Angeles) I've lived in Japan for 20 years and this place has my love and respect!

When to Go: Weekends are currently a zoo, but if you must, come before 7pm. For less excitement try early in the week.
Know Before You Go: BYOB--and you better stock up before descending on this neighborhood, which is about as equipped with decent liquor stores as it is with four-star restaurants.
Parking: Aplenty. One of the advantages to opening in the hinterlands.
The Extras: The sides portion of the concise menu offers seasonal kimchee, a Chef Kim specialty. Look for different varieties of cabbage used and a sliding scale of heat and pungency depending on the time of year.
Where to Sit: Unless you have a party of 10, you'll be sharing with strangers. If possible, opt for a table closer to the front as it isn't quite as busy with servers.
