Help us make it rightSeattle Weekly Food and Drink Editor Nicole Sprinkle declares Matt Dillon's The London Plane, "a Wes Anderson film for the palate" in her recent review. Peeking into the kitchen from the Pioneer Square spot's balcony, she writes, "It looks as if a CSA cherry-picked all its very best produce, then a food stylist came in and prepared it for a layout in a Martha Stewart Living spread."
The headline "Dulces is back, with old faves to please an older crowd" tells you just about all you need to know. For kicks: 1. This week, Seattle Times critic Providence Cicero reviews Dulces Bistro & Wine. 2. After operating locations in Madrona and downtown, Carlos Kainz and Julie Guerrero opened the restaurant four months back in Capitol Hill. 3. Kainz "holds a lady's chair when seating...
This week, The Stranger's Bethany Jean Clement had a foodgasm at Roux, the new Creole restaurant from Matthew Lewis. Among the things she ate? Uh, it seems like maybe everything on the menu. But a few of her favorites were the fried rabbit saddle, which leant its goodness to the column title, "Better than fried chicken," head-on shrimp and cheddar grits, and enough bougie booze drinks to wash...
As a complement to Eater's Heatmap on where to grab a bite right now, it's time to hone in on where the dedicated tipplers are currently killing their livers with craft cocktails. Here, in alphabetical order, is a beacon of bars currently creating a stir. Four new additions make the list: Aragona, Brimmer & Heeltap, Miller's Guild and Roux.
Renee Erickson's Barnacle and Thierry Rautureau's brand new Loulay both make Zagat's list of the 25 most important restaurants of 2013.
Barnacle, which opened adjacent to Erickson's Walrus and the Carpenter in September, comes in at #18. Zagat says the bar, "meant to accommodate the hungry hordes lined up for Walrus and Carpenter" has become a hit on its own (but we already knew that). "We'll...
It was Friday, we just got off work, and we just wanted a cocktail and a bite to eat. In my search to find a place to meet this criteria, was close to home, I stumbled across Barnacle. I had never been to Barnacle, but just passed on my way to Walrus and Carpenter (which is right next door). Barnacle is a small little bar (probably sits about 20 people), and is considered an Italian aperitivo...
David and his crew are just the best!!
Great selection of wines and creative appetizers in a noise ambient. I'm just not so sure about their automatically self given 20% tip at the end.
Ban tips, tack on service fees, you don't need my business. If you need to increase menu prices so be it. But I tip on the kind of service I get, usually 20% or more, and that's meant to go the the server, not the restaurant.
This is essentially the bar for the Walrus and Carpenter next door. But they do it with style with very interesting Italian-aperitif styled craft cocktails and a limited selection of bar bites. For what it strives to do it deserves a 5-star rating. Mellow, great sound track, easy on the ears. One of the better Seattle "waiting bars". If you...
