This was the first place I ate oriental food that was not Chinese.
That was almost 2 decades ago.
Tu Do has changed slightly over the years. Very slightly, but the food is still inexpensive, great and addicting.
I live in Payson now, at least 90 miles from anything stir-fried and worth purchasing. I make the trek once or twice a month to sit in Tu Do, chat with Mama, the owner, or Tina, her daughter and evening waitress.
I take every person I know in the valley to eat there if at all possible and almost exclusively order Lemonade, Pho Tu Do and Spring Rolls.
Every once in a while the Egg Rolls win my favor. I love wrapping them up in lettuce with cilantro. (God, I'm starving.)
Once in a while we order another appetizer, grape leaves filled with beef and served with lettuce, mint or cilantro and rice paper to wrap it all up. Messy, yes, but truly amazing.
My boyfriend doesn't eat spicy anything, no peppers, no way. He likes Tu Do because the flavors are rich and delicious and everything is made fresh...and without peppers when he orders.
Take an evening, go and sit. Savor the soup, add some basil, bean sprouts, chili paste, lime juice and be amazed when you are too full to take another bite and still have a half bowl sitting in front of you that will taste great as lunch tomorrow.
Or, if you are like me, breakfast.
Sometimes a chili kick is better than coffee.
