This "high-end", recently refurbished Penn Quarter Italian "continues to power along" with "bigwig lobbyists, politicians" and the "expense-account crowd" dining on its "outstanding" pastas and "excellent" fish while "rubbing elbows" with the regulars at its "great" bar; "gracious, old-school" servers enhance the "refined" mood that's perfect for "client entertaining" or a "fancy date night."

Chef Cesare Lanfranconi spent several years in the kitchen at Galileo, Washington's dearly departed favorite Italian restaurant, before starting the sleek, sophisticated Tosca with restaurateur Paolo Sacco. The food draws heavily from Lanfranconi's native Lake Como region, but isn't limited by it. Standouts have included polenta topped with wild mushrooms, and tasty ravioli stuffed with ricotta...

As one of the city's best restaurants, Tosca stands out for its fine Italian dining and gracious service. Tosca's interior of pale pastels, thick carpeting, and heavy drapes creates a hushed atmosphere, a suitable foil to the rich food and an appropriate environment for dealmaking -- Tosca is popular with political and legal bigwigs. Even when there's a crowd, Tosca doesn't get too noisy. The...

Ristorante Tosca Restaurant Review

Noted for its very elegant and approachable Northern Italian cuisine, Tosca is where to go for such dishes as the dinnertime appetizer pear and radicchio salad with Gorgonzola or the sautéed frogs’ legs with white wine. Moving on to the main course, the kitchen should tempt even the weariest palates with such offerings as grilled T-bone lamb chops in a ramps crust (seasonal) or pan-roasted red...

Downtown festival of corporate beige secretly brandishes culinary merit. Menu reads like a vintage Italian cookbook-totally legit Tuscan food for those who know the difference. At night's end, there'll be bones on your plate, dribbled red wine stains on the white tablecloth and at least a three-digit bill. Handmade pasta and scintillating conversation set the tone, incredible Italian desserts...

Good italian food. The seating is little tight. The spaghetti with the rabbit was nicely made. I like the spaghetti just in the right degree of firmness. The beef ravioli also a very famous dish. Grilled fish is simple and nicely done. Only the Tiramisu...

Awesome! We have been to Tosca many times - it is always great. This time it was better than ever. Despite the fact that it was the last night of DC Restaurant week and the restaurant was absolutely packed full, the service was superb. Service was efficient but not at all rushed. Flavors of food were exceptional. The freshly made pasta was as light as a feather and sauces were sublime. We also...

We went to Tosca during Restaurant Week Winter 2018. Unlike many restaurants, the portions were not skimpy. The cocktails, food and wine were excellent, as was the service.
