Basic motel, close to the movie theater and a yummy mexican restaurant. Close to Chase bank too. The front desk lady is sweet, I think they are from India. The room had a strong smell, like Glade or something!? Bothered my eyes a bit...but for 45 bucks, it was ok! Clean...

We chose Toppers largely because of the Tripadvisor ratings, knowing that Taft did not have many good choices for our 2-night stay. Having said that, the hotel does not leave a good first impression: it is old and shabby on the outside, and desperately in need of a renovation. Perfect modest accommodations, clean and very quiet

This motel is a sleeper in more ways than one. It is very plain but adjoins a fine authentic mexican restaurant and has a large swimming pool. The rooms are clean, large and the beds firm and comfortable. the management is very friendly in this tourist backwater of rural California.

Fine place for a one night stay

I've stayed here often as pit stop motel going between LA and SF.
Its a weird little motel that looks frozen in time. Like a set from some film noir movie.
Usually the least expensive of the motels in Taft. Unlike some cheap places it has never felt unsafe, it is just very basic motel in a very small town....
