Editorial reviews from the web (2)

At this Back Bay "surprise", chef-owner Michael Schlow (Via Matta) gives diners "dinner plus a show" via "imaginative", moderately priced New American small plates (inspired by his visits to Spain and Latin America) prepared in an open kitchen; though "big" and "comfortable", the rustic dining room is often "noisy" and "crowded" – thankfully there's "hidden outdoor seating in summer" and...

Tico Restaurant Review

This Back Bay venture from chef/owner Michael Schlow boasts an interior of reclaimed wood and eclectic design. Grab a seat at one of the stools adjacent to the open kitchen for a bird’s eye view of all the action. There is also a large dining room and intimate chef’s table along with an outdoor courtyard with a fireplace. If you are looking for a true “Schlow experience,” then order a Tico...

This was our third time dining at Tico, which tells you something about how much we enjoy it. Everything we’ve ordered here (which includes more than half of the menu by now) has been delicious. The first two times we ate here, the food was too spicy for me (my husband and our friend have a higher threshold for “heat”), but this time the heat level of the chiles seemed dialed down a bit, so I...

The food is very, very good, but a bit too much 'haute cuisine', i.e. too small dishes. It all looks very good, and the taste is also outstanding, but the amount of food is really too little (for the money).

TERRIBLE service, took 40 minutes to get drinks served, and even then 3/5 came out and the others took an additional 10 minutes. The margaritas tasted like they came out of the Charles River. Food was average but the service was AWFUL.

The mac&cheese was very tasty, the cauliflower was crunchy and delicious, the calamari was crisp and lemony, the red sangria was just right. Very good food, we ate outside and it was a beautiful evening. Will definitely go again the next time we are in Boston.

For a Saturday night the service was very slow. Restaurant was not crowded. Not sure why. Food was all very good to excellent but was a bit pricey for the size of the servings. Just wish our service would have been better and I could give a higher rating.
