*Gelato (je-`la-toh) - A soft, rich ice cream containing little to no air and vibrant flavor. Traditionally made in Italy with fresh, local ingredients. The Sweet Spot is an American Gelateria, featuring the largest selection of homemade, all natural gelato in Northeast Ohio. Using mostly local and/or organic ingredients, on any given day there are more than 40 flavors to choose from, including multiple sorbets and vegan/dairy free options. Many ingredients are sourced from farms and businesses in Northeast Ohio, including Rosby's in Brooklyn, Red Wagon Farms in Columbia Station, Martin's Blueberries also in Columbia Station, and Lucky Penny Creamery in Kent. Concoctions range from the tried and true, such as Cookies n' Milk, Raspberry Sorbet, and Mint Chocolate Chip to the fun and outrageous such as Smoked S'mores and Chocolate Mint Cayenne, to the downright dangerous Jalapeno Lemon Cinnamon Sorbet. Best of all, at around half the fat of typical ice cream, you will never need to weigh the consequences of adding that extra scoop. Cookies, pies and cupcakes from local vendors are also available on weekends. Newly opened in 2011, The Sweet Spot is family owned and operated. The family includes Celeste Blau, husband Patrick Cleary, brother Zack Blau, and parents Jack and Becky Blau. Their idea for a Cleveland-based all natural frozen desserts shop was concocted during a family trip to Italy. Stop by for a visit - across the street from The Beck Center!
