From the arched doorway facade to the Oriental carpets and dangling chandeliers of the impressive lobby, this hotel (opened in 1926 when President Calvin Coolidge cut the ceremonial ribbon) is all about elegance. The property underwent a…

Special occasions and power meals continue on in this historic room, just steps from the White House, after the St. Regis Hotel replaced Adour with a new fine-dining concept: high-end Mediterranean fare from longtime executive chef Sébastien Rondier; as with its previous incaruation, expect sophisticated service and an elegant backdrop (crystal everywhere) at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Smitten supporters of this circa-1926 grande dame tout its "superb" location, just two blocks from the White House, and maintain that guests are in for a "luxurious", "peaceful" stay in the "stately", "beautiful" guestrooms and suites featuring iPod docks, Pratesi linens and "wonderful" bathrooms; "outstanding" service completes a package that "does not disappoint – and it should not for the...

Every American president beginning with Calvin Coolidge has visited this outstanding historic hotel, which recently underwent an extensive renovation. Butler service is provided for packing and unpacking, coffee and tea service, pressing, etc. Rooms feature an abundance of bells and whistles, including a 15-inch LCD TV in the bathroom.

Was shocked at how close she is to the White House. Excellent staff as expected. Great Martini bar. Regular rooms are small but very comfortable and first class. I thought the price was VERY fair considering the brand and the location.
