Had the BEST prepared prime rib ever. Hands down. Could cut the meat with a fork. And the extra shrimp add-on was just as incredible-- three huge pawn-like shrimp in a tasty beer batter, deep fried fresh and perfect.
For anyone expecting an 'intimate,' snooty atmosphere, forget it. This is a real local restaurant serving real food to real people....
After 22 years in Decorah, we finally ate at the Old Rossville Store, 28 miles away, on a Friday night. The specials were fish and prime rib; I had broiled codfish in a lemon-butter bath and my husband had medium-rare prime rib. Both were good--the fish was "Mom food" and reminded me of the fish-on-Fridays of my elementary public school...
Great place to eat, good food, excellent service. When one drives up the number of cars in the parking lot is often daunting but go in anyhow and you will be seated and waited upon in a very short period of time. Don't pass up a great dining experience.
A typical small town supper club. Not fancy, but the food was good and the salad bar was decent. They have a Friday night fish special.
