Editorial reviews from the web (5)

Top Chef winner Harold Dieterle (Kin Shop, Perilla) pays homage to his Italian/German heritage at his latest West Village "hot spot", where the "hearty", meat-centric menu is accompanied by a "brilliant" European wine list; service is "excellent" and the window-lined room "airy", and despite "loud" decibels and "expensive" tabs, this newcomer already looks like "another hit."

Bar Menu at The Marrow; Becker to Open Cast Iron

WEST VILLAGE ? At right is the new bar menu at Harold Dieterle's The Marrow, which is launching today. The full menu is still available at the bar as always, but now there's a handful of additional selections. Included in that new menu is Dieterle's burger, available outside of brunch and Friday lunch for the first time. [EaterWire]

FLATIRON DISTRICT ? After he opens his quickservice...

Ur-Top Chef Harold Dieterle puts aside his Asian bag of tricks to embrace a personal heritage of Italian and German blood. Namesake marrow hard to resist, paired up with focaccia, lemon aioli, and sea urchin. Lamb neck comes braised in juniper, joined with rutabaga and red sauerkraut. Cocktail list goes equally thoughtful and continental. Drink Rumple Minze in a classy way for once, matched...

A Decent Meal, Ruined by Service

Arrived at The Marrow at 7:42 for my 7:45 table-for-two reservation, and ran up against one of the most dreaded events in NYC restaurant dining: "Hostess: you are the first to arrive. Would you like to wait at the bar." Me (surveying the swath of empty tables for two): "No, I'd like to be seated please." Hostess: "You are early (by now it was 7:43), we can't seat you." Me: "But what about all...

definitely worth a visit

The food is excellent! Fresh, super tasty and innovative. Portions are large also so it's good good value for money. Staff is friendly and the service was excellent. We will be back for sure.

This winter's Restaurant Week seems to have passed without much fanfare. I did, however, get to try Harold Dieterle's The Marrow. Of Dieterle's restaurants I've only been to Kin Shop. The 2 restaurants are very different and I must say I think I prefer Kin Shop for its more creative and interesting dishes. That …

We had drinks at the bar and they were fine. The selection wasn't amazing but my cocktail was simple and tasty! We appreciated that it was low-key compared to the crazy crowded bars nearby.

We came here for brunch on Sunday. Surprisingly not crowded. We immediately got a table around 11:00 AM. We ordered the baked eggs and spiced waffles. The waffles were really nice. Almost like a dessert. I would not want to eat that alone. The baked eggs were fantastic. The polenta really added a nice twist …
