Mad Platter Restaurant Review

Nashvillians have feasted on comforting, well-prepared contemporary American cuisine at the Mad Platter for more than 25 years. The two-story, red brick structure in Germantown goes back 100-plus years, having started out as a meatpacking business and later a grocery store. Two historic brick buildings cradle the patio. The Mad Platter features a seasonal menu that changes daily. Start rich...

A meal at the Mad Platter is unfailingly familiar and comforting. Because the place has been around a good long while, the menu has been tempered and tested many a time, leaving only the cream for you to try. That's not to say that nothing… Read More

For more than a decade, Mad Platter has provided the answer to sophisticated foodies’ queries: Where shall we go to celebrate a special occasion? Where can we go to feel like we’re not in Nashville? Where can I take the object of my romantic intentions? By virtue of its off-the-beaten-path location in quaint Germantown, Mad Platter is not always the first restaurant that springs to mind,...

For many years now, the Mad Platter has been one of Nashville's trendiest restaurants. Located in an old brick corner store in a historic neighborhood of restored Victorian houses, the Mad Platter feels like a cozy upscale library, with bookshelves crammed with knickknacks and old copies of National Geographic. The ambience is reserved, not pretentious, and service is personable, if a bit slow...

In Short
The restaurant anchors the renaissance of historic Germantown, and plays off the pre-Victorian feel of the neighborhood. Exposed brick, tall painted-wood ceilings, and beige...

I believe everyone should try a restaurant for themselves and come up with their own opinion. In my opinion, the Mad Platter fell flat for me. The atmosphere was nice and service was great but...

Friendly staff (hostess) and cute environment but that was it for our experience. I have heard great things so I'm hoping this negative visit was a one time thing. I made reservations for Sunday...

I've enjoyed Matt Platter many times for lunch and have always been pleased. During my first dinner experience, I was sure to be wowed and be able to impress my out of town guests. That unfortunately was not the case. There was only one vegetarian option on the entire menu and the kitchen staff was not willing to wing something simple and custom for my friend. The white bean crab cake lacked...

I have just moved to Nashville and already eaten here twice. The menu is small, which allows for each item to be delicately crafted and truly "home made." So impressed with the basil-sautéed...

Still special after all these years...

It's been years since I last dined at the Mad Platter. The food was excellent, and portion size was just right...not too small, and not too big. Service was attentive without being annoying, and the waiter had a great sense of humor. My sister and I had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch, and I'll go back again sooner rather than later. Thanks, Mad Platter!
