What the community has to say about The Fountainhead

Information about this business (1)

The inside of this American bar and grill harkens back to an earlier time with its mahogany woodwork, gold walls, and antique details. Start with the Frites or the Mediterranean Bruschetta. Popular among guests for obvious reasons is the Duck, Duck Mac, which is served with sun-dried tomoatoes. The pepper-infused dark chocolate Creme Brulee is a good way to end the meal. There is an impressive...

Editorial reviews from the web (4)

"Unpretentious" yet "not too lowbrow", this "packed" Ravenswood pub with "damn near the best beer list in the city" goes "beyond typical bar food" with dishes ranging from a "simple" burger to more "extravagant" duck confit pasta; guests also go for the whiskey selection and "love the feel" of the mahogany bar and rooftop garden.

Fountainhead Restaurant Review

Fountainhead feels like the result of Ernest Hemingway and J.R.R. Tolkien coming together and opening a bar --- during this century. This craft beer-focused haunt has an old-meets-new appeal, with a clubby look and a long, mahogany bar flanked by hi-top tables that see a boisterous late-night crowd. For a meal, snag a table by the fireplace in back and start with monkey bread spiked with...

Whiskey bar aims to bring in casual customer seeking an uncomplicated hangout, but with over 150 choices of single-barrel whiskey and an asymmetrical Belgian design with mahogany woodwork, there's gonna be some head scratching. Mussels soaked in Belgian ale, pork belly sandwich braised in ale, duck confit mac and cheese (yes, aled up). If you're lucky, you'll snag a table in the charming little...

Citysearch Editorial Review

If an impressive drink selection is of utmost importance, this Ravenswood establishment won’t disappoint. The comprehensive beverage list features beer, wine and whiskeys from all over the world,...

Fountainhead has a great selection of beer and food. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because of the rooftop menu/service. My boyfriend and I went a month or two ago...

My friend and I went for Sunday brunch. We both ordered the old fashioned donuts, which were vegan and delicious. We also both ordered the buttermilk marinated chicken fried chicken. It was a...

Fountainhead is a great neighborhood spot. The drink selection is good from wine, spirits, and beer. The food is OK but honestly I only ate on the rooftop which I've heard the restaurant has better food - but summertime in Chicago you have to be on the rooftop which by the way is awesome! Service is good and I've always had a great time. Should you go there? YES. It's worth it.

Fountainhead is located at 1970 W Montrose Ave in Chicago and has been in the business of Retail - American Restaurant since 2010.

Nestled in the heart of the Ravenswood, Lincoln Square and North Center neighborhoods, Fountainhead offers an

Excellent selection of tap beer; three cask options also. We sampled the pulled pork, pot roast, and mac-n-cheese. The mac-n-cheese is fantastic! Whatever dish you get, be sure to get a side order. The entrees were good - for the price we thought the meal overall was decent. Dinner for two with drinks will run about $60. -
