After 40 years of training dancers in Chester County, I take all reviews into careful consideration and hope to run a better dance school as a result. However, there are many lies in this review and those who know me personally and professionally will agree. Unless a child expresses an interest in becoming a professional dancer, I encourage them to get involved in other activities. However, when a child and parent expresses their interest in pursuing a career in dance, they must attend class 5 days a week or more. It's the same in everything else you may do - gymnastics, varsity sports, etc. There is no room for every other day and expect an outcome of anything but recreational. At The Dance Center, we have just as many recreational dancers as we do serious dancers and both are welcomed and receive the same professional training. By auditioning and becoming a member of Brandywine Ballet requires more than a recreational commitment and that is something that the student and parent can decide prior to signing the contract. I truly care for each and every student at The Dance Center and most families are grateful for the training, encouragement, and performing opportunities. Derogatory statements are never made about students - corrections are given and when you are paying a professional fee for dance training, you and your child should be very happy that the faculty is paying enough attention to give corrections and guidance. And, when a family makes a committment to the school and company, by signing a contract, I expect them not to quit mid year after casting and rehearsals have already begun. This action has consequences to other students who have to take up the slack when they are already working hard and doing their job. I try to please everyone, but obviously I can't.
