Ballard Annex Oyster House Opening March 21

Ballard Avenue is quickly becoming Bivalve Ave. The busy duo behind Ballard Annex Oyster House, the new seafood concept opening in the old Thaiku space, is getting their dining room chairs in a row (photo) as they begin the speedy descent to grand opening. Co-owner Zak Melang:

Oyster Annex Opening In Ballard Next Month

The guys behind Matador and Kickin Boot Whiskey Kitchen have taken over the old Thaiku space on Ballard Avenue, ditching their initial name Willy's and opening Ballard Annex Oyster House in late March. Chef Josh Green, formerly of Ponti and the Virginia Inn, will head-up the kitchen.

Thaiku 2: Less Fu Kun Wu, But More Authentic

As previously reported, the former spice-laden gem of Ballard Ave. is once again in business — this time, in the old Gaspare space on Phinney Ridge, across from Stumbling Goat Bistro.

The new Thaiku promises more authentic Thai cuisine. In fact, according General Manager Unchalee "O" Ayucharoen:

You'll find this unforgettable bar at the back of Ballard's Thaiku, which is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Seattle. Designed to look like an old Chinese apothecary and filled with Asian woodcarvings and artifacts, Fu Kun Wu specializes in various herb-infused cocktails. There's live jazz on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

I cannot think of a better place to end a night out with friends, a date, or family. Decently priced, lots of options for everyone, and an awesome atmosphere. I got the Peanut Butter Cup cake. It's so dang good.
