Tex drive in has the best Malasades on the Big Island. I don't really know what they do different but it is worth the stop. We had the chocolate, bavarian cream and strawberry and loved them all. They have nice facilities and a good place to rest and enjoy during a trip to that side of the island
We had tried malsadas elsewhere on the Big Island but wanted to compare them to Tex's due to all the great reviews! These reviews were right....the malsadas we had at Tex's were so good and definitely the best!!! They were served warm, super tasty and cannot be beat! We tried the bavarian cream, chocolate and strawberry ones.
Incredible donuts worth the drive any time of the day. We tried those from roadside vendors and there was no comparison.
Stopped here on the way back from our zip-lining experience on Umauma Falls. My sister-in-law and brother recommended that we stop to try their warm, freshly made malasadas. We were not disappointed. The plain portuguese donuts, square-shaped without a "hole" were very tasty. The custard, chocolate, and guave-filled versions were excellent. This stop was well worth our time and tastes.
