Ted Drewes Frozen Custard Restaurant Review

Ted Drewes dispenses its treats from two longstanding St. Louis locations (the other is at 4224 S. Grand Blvd.). Flavors like mint, peach, pralines and Heath Bar can be scooped into cones, blended into concretes or poured into sundaes for specialties such as Terramizzou (a secret blend of chocolate and pistachios) and the Dutchman Delight (with chocolate, butterscotch and pecans). It’s a point...

Grab a frozen custard at this old fashioned, wait-outside-in-line stand, treasured by St. Louisians. Summer nights are busy, but the super efficient staff doles out the ice cream through a window with amazing speed. The concretes (shakes) are so thick they can be turned upside down and don't fall out. Don't miss this place.

St. Louis' sweetest summer treat.

Nearly as popular with tourists as the Arch, St. Louis' favorite frozen custard stand has been in the same spot since the early '30s. Located along the legendary Route 66, tens...

For all y'all fro-yo lovers, once you have St. Louis custard, you'll never go back!!

The Concrete at Ted Drewes is too thick to drip A St. Louis tradition since 1929, Ted Drewes serves frozen custard in many flavors. Custard is different from ice cream because it has a lot less air so it's thicker and creamier. It also has less butterfat than ice cream, but you would never know since custard tastes creamier than ice cream. You can get the frozen custard in a sundae, but I got...

Best Frozen Custard ever. I usually get a Blue Berry custard, they always load it with tons of berries.

Whether locals or tourists, Ted Drewes is hopping with good old fashioned family energy.  The people were happy and zoned in on demolishing their cups of frozen goodies. Multiple lines form but each moves

Drewes Ted Frozen Custard can be found at Chippewa St 6726. The following is offered: Tourist Attractions. The entry is present with us since Sep 9, 2010 and was last updated on Nov 14, 2013. In Saint Louis there are 28 other Tourist Attractions. An overview can be found here.

Ted Drewes has been selling frozen custard and Christmas trees for decades, with an attention to quality that has made his trees and custard the finest in St. Louis. It all started when Ted Sr. opened his first ice cream store in Florida in 1929, followed the next year by an other store on Natural Bridge in St. Louis and the South Grand store in 1931. In 1941 the family opened a second south...

This St. Louis landmark has been serving creamy, old-fashioned frozen vanilla custard since 1929. The flavors expand beyond vanilla to include chocolate chip and Heath Bar, along with concoctions that include nuts, fruit, and candies. Plus, you'll definitely want to try a "concrete." This frozen dessert is so thick that it won't budge, even when you turn it upside down! Ted Drewe's is popular...

Seriously, if you haven't been to this St. Louis institution lately, get yourself down to Chippewa and get ready for something only the Gateway City can offer. Frozen custard concretes, shakes, cones and sundaes await you. You and about half of the metro area of course, but the lines move fast and you'll more than likely meet someone there you know. It's that good, folks.

This place has been a favorite in St. Louis and a landmark for ice cream lovers since 1929. Mr. Drewes' cool, creamy delights are served upside down in order to prove just how creamy and thick they really are. Do not be alarmed by the ever-present line, as it moves along pretty quickly. An ice cream-style stand, complete with neon lights and twinkling bulbs, makes this a lively family hangout....

Need a Fix?: If you can't get to one of the two locations, look for Ted's scrumptious custard at Schnuck's and other spots around town.
