This ecosystem is subtle, spectacular and invigorating.
I just stood up on the bluff, on one of the trails, and found myself absorbing more and more of the experience. I fell in love with the place. Lots to take in. I will come back for more...

What a wonderful way to spend the day. Travel back to the days when the tall grass prairie was intact and stretched as far as they eye could see. Visit the out buildings, house and school. Walk the trails, hear the grasses rustle in the breeze and listen as the meadowlarks serenade you. See the bison, kings of the prairie...

I wasn't sure what to think when my brother suggested driving out to the middle of Kansas with our kids to see some prairie grass, but I'm sure glad I agreed to it. We started out at 9 in the morning and stopped in Council Grove to stretch our legs. There's a nice park there that the kids really enjoyed....

Wow! I'm impressed... We travel to Yellowstone frequently and who knew we had free roaming Buffalo 1.5 hours from the house here in Oklahoma!! We entered via Pawhuska and found the 'Gateway to Tallgrass Prairie.' Expect about a 15 mile ride to the Headquarters Office and Visitor Center. 5 of the 15 miles is paved and the rest is the...

Very nice wide open prairie. Our walk was interrupted by the Bison herd! The old House on the property is amazing, built in 1880.
