If it feels like everyone is a regular at chef Art Smith's Gold Coast restaurant, they very well might be. Oprah's former personal chef is not short on friends and admirers, yet newcomers who score a reservation feel just as welcome in the cozy, country-home environs, particularly when the complimentary cheese biscuits arrive. While the menu strays to Asia and Europe, at its core is a...

Table Fifty-Two Restaurant Review

Art Smith is no longer known as Oprah’s (one-time) personal chef; rather, he has officially made a name for himself. Sure, all the media attention the tiny Gold Coast restaurant received certainly has helped, but it manages to deliver in the food department. Smith tapped into his roots for the Southern-inspired spot when culling the décor (a copper-tin ceiling, folk art, soft yellow walls) and...

Before opening this feverishly anticipated Gold Coast restaurant in a dainty carriage house, Art Smith spent ten years as Oprah's personal chef. Dinner service is like a well-choreographed dinner party: Smith himself plays the congenial host, greeting the local movers and curious civilians seated in the snug dining room. The genteel mood befits the menu of Southern classics, including a...

One of my favorites in Chicago, fried chicken mashed potato is the best and large serving. Everything on menu is excellent and deserts you can't miss.

We decided to celebrate our Anniversary at Blue Door Kitchen and Garden and it was lovely. We were thrilled to get an outdoor table on a beautiful spring night. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable and the staff were very friendly. It was great to find such a pleasant garden setting in the middle to the city. We will definitely return.

I went with a group of friends for brunch and everything was fantastic! We had the beignets and they were buttery goodness. I also had the quiche which was light and fluffy. Great decor and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended.

We had a great evening but it was very busy and by 8.00pm the kitchen had run out of two entrees on the menu. It can get very noisy at peak times. Food is great and I cannot wait to try the garden in the summer months.

Everything was solid as I have come to expect here. The high tea is a must try drink

Homestyle: Regulars aren't surprised when they see Art Smith, former personal chef to Oprah Winfrey, chatting up the tables at his restaurant well-known by locals for its buttermilk fried chicken and waffle served with confit garlic mashed potatoes. The restaurant, not far from the Magnificent Mile, has a Southern hospitality charm to it from the warm-toned décor to the service. In addition to...

I went to Table 52 this past sunday for brunch with the boyfriend after hearing about their amazing chicken waffles. It is a pretty pricey spot, but if high end comfort food from a celebrity chef is something you are craving for then this will hit the spot.
