Nestled in the crossroads of Union Square, Nob Hill, and the Financial District, Swell offers an intimate setting where diners can enjoy modern interpretations of both raw and cooked seafood. Featuring some of the freshest and highest quality seafood to be found in San Francisco, we specialize in small plates combining Japanese and European influence and seasonal and local organic produce. This tiny, two-level restaurant specializes in the namesake crudo – hunks of raw fish paired with ingredients like sea salt, fresh apples and tangerine oil. But cooked dishes – such as mussels marinated in San Francisco’s own Anchor Steam beer and seared dayboat scallops served with fat tangerine slices – are equally impressive. The first floor is dominated by a steel-topped bar lined with a...

Bar Crudo Restaurant Review

This inviting, modern neighborhood restaurant along Divisadero features sparklingly fresh raw bar and seafood preparations, including oysters, crudo, sustainable fish dishes and roasted shellfish. Don't miss the delectable chowder. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly and quality is high. Look for daily happy hour specials beginning at 5 p.m.

"Sublime" fin fare featuring "innovative" "raw preparations" hooks "trendy" "hipsters" at this Western Addition seafooder in a "minimalist" setting; the "fantastic beer list" offers "exciting" options to accompany your "fabulous fish chowder" or "brilliant crudo", and though service varies and "it's not cheap", the "happy hour is a tremendous value."

A raw bar/Bar Crudo copycat in Nob Hill.

When Bar Crudo outgrew this charming but absurdly small space between Nob Hill and Union Square, Swell moved in like a hermit crab, using the not only the space but adopting the exact same...

A raw seafood bar in NoPa.

After outgrowing its wildly successful and ridiculously tiny original location, this pioneering raw fish bar landed across from NOPA on Divisadero in what must now be one of the hardest one-two...

Tiny, seductive raw bar and dining room offer a rarefied, delectable evening out.

The Scene
This diminutive, charming hideaway is modern, fresh and romantic. An itty-bitty street-level raw bar leads to a rustic wooden staircase and lofted restaurant with barely room...

Located in the up and coming new hipster neighborhood growing along Divisidero Street which is either the Western Addition or Lower Haight (depending on who you ask) is Bar Crudo, a place I'd heard of but never gotten around to going to, even though I used to live only a few blocks away.  A co-worker recently was having a birthday and this is one of her favorite spots so some of us from work...

The happy hour specials are really a bargain. However even if not come for hh, the value to quality of food, service and ambiance is well worth it.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary. Being so close to the financial district worried me about tourists skewing the reviews. 4 stars is too much credit for the great restaurants of SF....

This place is hella French. Like you feel bad not knowing French. Like you're in Paris and feel like a tourist going in there. In short, hospitality is not something we felt whilst visiting. We...

First off, the hostess was abrupt. The waiter mumbled and looked annoyed when I asked if the cheese and butter were pasteurized, despite the fact that I told him I'm pregnant. He had a snooty...

Restaurants near AT&T Park: Albeit a tiny space with bar dining downstairs and a handful of tables upstairs, Bar Crudo has made quite a splash with its exquisite seafood. Impeccable preparation and spot-on flavors distinguish the fare, whether you choose chilled shellfish or their crudo (raw fish) items. The latter get a kick with fennel, mint, tobiko, ginger, and blood oranges. Seafood...

Know Before You Go: Swell also offers cooked seafood, which is generally a safer bet.

Parking: The Sutter-Stockton garage half a block down Bush St. has very reasonable rates, and street parking on Bush is easy to find after (but not much later than) 7pm.

The block of Divisadero between Oak and Fell is a secret parking spot in this otherwise impossible neighborhood.
