We ate here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. The restaurant is an awkward space, and the theme is incoherent. However the important factors such as the food and service were both good.

Stopped on the way home to grab a bite.
Not looking for a huge meal, just a tasty treat. My wife and I split the burger and fries. It was called the Southern Belle Burger. OMG, it was YUMM-EE!! A nice combination of spices on a big juicy burger, with the habanero havarti cheese, marinated tomatoes, banana peppers, and lettuce....

We neglected to make reservations during a busy parents weekend at IU and knew it would be difficult to get seated anywhere in downtown Bloomington. Stopped going there a couple of years ago after a particularly unpleasant incident. They serve coffee in mugs advertising different businesses. The one they gave us with dinner advertised a crime-scene cleanup business--with graphic descriptions on the mug of the bodily fluids they clean. Sweetgrass is a pleasant restaurant getting mixed reviews. I think you will be served a good meal at a reasonably moderate price. If this is all you want to know, stop reading.
Sweetgrass has come a long way since I went there several times years ago. But they may be having an identity crisis.
