If you're looking for an out-sized Irish experience that smacks of Midtown, Stout is the place to go. With 16,000 square feet and three floors of mend-bending space, it's about as public a house as a pub can be, with decibel levels to match, especially when any of their three-dozen televisions are showing live soccer.

Inside this friendly giant of a pub, the commuter quest for a fine midtown pint is over.

I've been to Stout quite a few times and I can't get over how crowded and noisy it gets even during a regular week day, and more so on Thursdays and Fridays. You can barely hear yourself talk, let alone carry a meaningful conversation with someone else.

Usually if I'm in the area I'll stop by for a few beers and occasionally get something to eat if it's not too crowded. We like the chicken...
