The Worst

I went to Stoddard's last night with my friend. We were having a great night, we both got a glass of wine and the cheese plate, she gets up to go to the bathroom, things get bused from the table, and all of a sudden her iPhone is missing.

No big deal. We ask the waitstaff for help. Oh wait, nope, they won't help us. Not only that, they asked us to move from the table (where we were sitting with unfinished glasses of wine) so "real" customers could sit. Then the manager yelled at us.

In sum, do not go to Stoddard's if you want to have a pleasant evening and if you wish to keep possession of your electronics.

Great food and a good selection of local beers and ciders. Definitely a good choice for a night out.

There for the Patriots victory parade day and the servers were awesome. We even made their day difficult by spilling water all over the table and they handled it with ease. Food was good, so were the drinks. Would come back in the future.

We were time constrained, with theatre tickets that evening. The service was excellent, the servers advice perfect about what dishes might take longer, the kitchen staff were clearly on top of things - everything came out on time, and very well prepared. Nothing was left on our plates - the meals were delicious (a venison carpaccio appetizer, pumpkin ravioli and a lobster mussels and clams...

Another great dinner of comfort food, tasty cocktails, and one of the best beer menus in the Boston area.

Built in 1868 in the Greek Revival Style, the building Located at 48 Temple Place in Downtown Crossing was one of the first in Boston to use milled granite from the nearby Quincy quarry on its façade. Stoddard's Fine Food & Ale is one of the neighborhood favorite bars and lounges situated in an old historic building that survived the fire in 1872. The decor of the place is rustic with some garments on display, depicting the former corset store located here. Tips about this business (3)

You might ask: Why is there underwear hung on the walls? Historically, Stoddard's building was where fashionable ladies shopped for unmentionables. Before it was Stoddard's cutlery store and Stoddard's Fine Foods & Ale, the building's first proprietor was Chandler's corset store.

The railings on the balcony and bar area were sourced from the nearby (and late) original Filene's Basement when it was gutted.

Street parking on Temple Place and West Street is very limited until 7pm, when a few loading zone spots open up.
