If there's no alternatives, I love Starbucks. But in Amherst, there are several alternatives to choose from, with better coffee, freshly made treats, etc, not to mention more competitive prices.

Coffee OK, service and ambience less so

Short queue for coffee and cookies to eat in. They had run out of plates so they asked us if we'd mind the cookies in a paper bag. We agreed.
The leather seats were comfortable but there was an unpleasant draught from the windows (closed). We saw plenty of used plates on tables.

This Starbucks is usually crowded and getting a seat can be a challenge, as students are usually working on their computers. The staff is always very friendly and do a good job of turning drinks around. The quality of the drinks is very good every time I go there. If you don't mind take out, then this is the place...
