I had St. Croix Energy Solutions come out and put in new attic insulation. We had shower pipes that froze when the temp dropped below zero. We've been keeping the bathroom door closed during those colder days so the heating vent in the bathroom would keep the room warm enough for the pipes not to freeze. The consultant was friendly and helpful. The guys who insulated my attic worked hard, despite it being almost ten below outside. They laid drop cloths throughout the house (which seems like a minor thing, but I've had well workers track mud all through the house before and leave it) and they worked fast. Now my 100-year-old farm house is holding heat like it was built yesterday.

When SCES did an energy assessment for my 1895 farmhouse I learned so much about the way my house was and wasn't working. Pete Morsch walked me through during the blower door test and showed me the places where the air was running through -- yup, 4800 cfs!
