Help us make it rightAlthough not advertized as a steakhouse, St. Anselm is a little neighborhood spot steak lovers absolutely must visit. The Butcher's Steak and Axe Handle Rib Eye are the highlights of the menu, although the rest of the offerings are good, too. In addition, St. Anselm also has a lot to offer seafood lovers. An excellent wine selection further enhances the dining experience.
St. Anselm is like a steakhouse for hipsters; a veritable grilled meat mecca for the skinny jeans set. A youngish crowd fills the pews, sipping craft beer and wine from long list of nicely chosen bottles (that have a refreshingly low mark-up). Of course, you can’t just breeze in; with the exception of weekend brunch, there’s a perpetual wait for entry. But when you do land a seat at the table,...
A "meat-lover's paradise", this Williamsburg American vends "amazing", "affordable" steaks along with other "farm-fresh" fare; the "rugged", brick-walled interior may be "bare-bones", the clientele "a bit too hip" and no reservations leads to "long waits", yet it remains ever "popular."
From the proprietor of (and right next to) Spuyten Devil and (across from) Fette Sau, St. Anselm bills itself as a "haute snack bar" focused more heavily on wine than it's cocktail-loving older brother and offering a menu of what we'll call "Midwestern tapas" that includes sliders, pork-and-beef hot dogs (no word yet on if they'll be fried), a Trenton pork roll, and humble pie. Somewhere, Jamie...
Woodsman's shack no longer serving up meat bonanza, switched up to grilled goodies. Keeps it simple with the seasonings, plenty of seafood to go around. Well-considered beer and wine lists, as you'd expect from a Spuyten Duyvil sibling. Rustic room with elaborate wood array. Epic waits. You have been warned.
From the owners of Fette Sau (across the street) and Spuyten Duyvil (next door), this fryer-centric meatery makes for a heart-stopping trifecta on the corner of Metropolitan and Havemeyer. Aside...
St. Anselm is one of the most unassuming, affordable steakhouses in town.
I originally went mere may 20th and thought everything was incredible. So much so that I thought it was a fluke and waited to go again to see if it was indeed accurate the second time. And I'm...
I've stopped in on a few occasions and have been met with attitudes every time. Not sure what the deal is here, but it's not really worth the time when there are so many great places on Grand St.
Very relaxed vibe and no wait. Had the special skillet pancake , grilled sausage and artisan beer. All good....
Meat Hook Sandwich Shop is located on Lorimer Street between Powers and Grand is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Yes, lunch only, though fingers crossed that will change soon. St Anselm is located on Metropolitan Avenue and Havemeyer Street, and is open from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 12:00 midnight on Friday and Saturday. St. Anselm also serves brunch...
All of the meats served here are hormone/antibiotic free, and the hot dogs are made exclusively for St. Anselm by Karl Ehmer in Queens.
The restaurant shares a glorious backyard with its beer garden sibling Spuyten Duyvil, and they'll bring your food to your outdoor table--if you can snag one.
The bar may have only eight taps, but you can also go next door and order from the best-in-Williamsburg beer list of Spuyten Duyvil.
