Help us make it rightThis is a little slice of relief in the middle of Springfield. The lawns and gardens are immaculate and is a great place for a walk or an afternoon with a magazine and picnic. The Carillon bell tower is really cool if you are around when they have a concert or show.
The botanical gardens are ok.. but not great. Very typical for Springfield... something to go to, but I would brag about 'em.
They don't have the budget or facilities as some other midwestern gardens, so don't expect anything on the scale as St. Louis or Chicago.
My dad and I visited Springfield over the weekend and had time to squeeze visiting this place in. If I had more time or lived in the area I would love to walk the trails with my dog. The gardens are very pretty, but most of the place was closed up when we went because it was Sunday. Oh well....
Nice greenhouse and grounds. A little walking path , through the grounds and the rose garden .Good place to go on a nice day.
It’s so idyllic, you’d never guess how close this is to downtown. The green house is small , but the grounds are lovely. There are formally planted areas near the greenhouse, like a rose garden, but the rolling hills, ponds, and wooded walks are where it really shines. There are special events held here, like an art fair, music festivals,...
Garden consisting of 9,000 square feet of greenhouse area and a conservatory featuring more than 150 species of tropical plants.
