Editorial reviews from the web (1)

The sprawling five-story hotel, an L.A. landmark with a good location, is under new ownership and management and thus has a new contemporary look. There are new sleek white booths in the coffee shop but the same popular menu of American classics; breakfast is a notable good value. The Olympic-size pool and patio with outdoor bar (summer only) remain, as do the extra-wide halls and...

DO NOT STAY HERE

This was a nightmare. The walls are so thin, you can literally hear people going to the bathroom next door, let alone not being able to sleep with all the doors closing and people talking.

When I told the front desk staff I wanted to check out early because I didn't like it there, they said NOT ONE WORD. Great customer service, huh?

Some things are very new, but most were slapped together...

A power outage occurred before we checked in. There was no power and we were booked on the 5th floor.

We have been visiting the Sportsmen's Lodge for a number of years and were looking forward to seeing the newly refurbished rooms - however, they seem to have taken away more than they have added.

The rooms were almost bare of furniture beside the beds and a desk.
They no longer have a refrigerator in the rooms as standard
The closet space was about a foot wide and had a total of 5...

This was my first time in LA. I chose this hotel because it was close to everything. The hotel doesn't have a shuttle service so I reserved an airport shuttle to the hotel. The check in was so quick! I like the room and the patio outside. You can kind of hear the people in the hallway but it didn't really bother me. They have friendly staff and the housekeeping was excellent! They made my stay...

First night, there was a wedding reception right outside our balcony with LOUD base from the DJ until almost 11pm. Sound proofing in the rooms is horrible and I had to use my ear plugs to get any sleep. The rooms are small and the bathroom is even smaller.
