Spindini is a Memphis favorite that specializes in "Simply Elegant Italian." They specialize in traditional Italian food prepared with a modern twist. You'll also see that the menu denotes dishes cooked in the wood-burning oven, made with organically-grown produce harvested at Woodland Farms, a company owned farm, or made with honey from Spindini's own bee hives.
Chef Steven Robillio has taken the reins at Spindini, originally opened by Memphis restaurateur Judd Grisanti in 2007. Some things remain from the old Grisanti days at the South Main eatery, such as traditional pasta dishes and the wood-fired pizzas cooked to order in a flaming-hot oven at the end of the bar. But Robillio brings contemporary cuisine as well with seasonal dishes. Much of the...
Judd Grisanti comes from a long line of Italian chef/restaurateurs who have earned well-deserved success and recognition in Memphis. Spindini is the newest venture from the Grisanti clan, and it is a sophisticated showstopper. Opened in 2007 in downtown's South Main arts district, the long, narrow restaurant is flanked by a banquette with tightly spaced tables and a classy bar adorned with...
This restaurant in trendy South Main was a hot spot before it even opened: such is the reputation of the Grisanti family. The chef-owner is Judd Grisanti, who launched his own place after honing his skills at Ronnie Grisanti & Sons and other family operations. Everything is well prepared, even if some dishes (fried calamari and Grisanti pasta standby Elfo’s Special) are fairly predictable....
Nice atmosphere. Great for drinks and food, I really like their pizza. It's a bit "cozy", but I've never had too long of a wait. Id rate the service as okay. Only negative I would add would probably be parking, which always seems to be a bit tight.
Overall an impressive dining experience. My only complaint is that Spindini is not really convenient to anything, unless you want to drive back into downtown. The restaurant was not crowded at all. I am a big fan of the cocktail menu, and I think the bartender told us they age their own whiskey? I thoroughly …
Every time I walk by Spindini, I don't understand why no one is ever there. The only time I see it busy is on Mondays (half price pizza and bottles.I'm a pizza-addict so of course I always order pizza. My favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza. I wish it was a part of their daily menu and not just a special. The …
I love this place! For what you get, I feel like it's very reasonably priced. For two people you can get in and out for close to $100. That includes a bottle of wine, entree, two salads and an appetizer to share. It has more of an upscale vice, but not super fancy. I've never had bad service and have probably been here 10ish times. Get the tuscan butter as an app - you won't be sorry!!
Spindini is definitely the place to be on a monday night for their half off wine and pizza specials. The crowd on the weekend is very nice as well. Spindini has a nice selection of wine and bourbons and a very good menu.I would definitely recommend Spindini for a more upscale bar and dining experience in the downtown area.

When Judd Grisanti says that his new restaurant is "all about the fire," he's talking about the wood-fire oven he'll use to cook with, and his passion for reviving old cooking techniques and recipes. Grisanti is well known for carrying on the almost 100-year Grisanti family tradition of fine Italian dining. He's recognized as one of the region's premier culinary figures, with 17 years a Chef de...
