Smith's Adorable & Approachable Marley Tomic Beard

Marley Tomic Beard, a Boston transplant with a well-deserved reputation for creating incredible drinks using interesting combinations of spirits and flavors, has recently taken the role of bar manager at Smith, one of Linda Derschang's popular neighborhood watering holes on Capitol Hill. Marley began working at Licorous and Bathtub Gin shortly after moving to Seattle four years ago; loyal...

Hunting lodge-meets-prep school-meets-Capitol Hill hip at Linda Derschang's (of Oddfellows and Linda's) always-busy eatery on 15th Avenue E, a short walk northeast of the Pike-Pine corridor. Taxidermied birds and cheeky oil portraits of ex-presidents fill the walls, and dark booths invite lingering and sipping. Flank steak here is expertly prepared—substitute sweet-potato fries for the regular...

Bobcat Thievery, Gnomes, Mysterious Mustaches and Other Tales From the Linda Derschang Empire

You can't spend 17 years running a network of bars and restaurants (many on rowdy Capitol Hill) without collecting a few good stories. Linda Derschang asked her media maven Tallulah Anderson to gather up some tales of theft, successful and otherwise, and other assorted hijinx from Linda's Tavern, King's Hardware, Oddfellows and Smith. Key takeaway: bolt down any taxidermy you may have on the...

The fried chicken and waffles here is AMAZING and all the dishes we ordered turned out great. I would say their libations were good, but they wouldn't be listed in my book of must-try for drinks.

Accommodated our 6 person group very easily. Seasonal beer selection was on-point. Their burger is a classic. Poutine was great to share with a group! Will be back, once again.

Overcooked poached egg. Stale coffee. Cold bacon. Replaced the poached egg quickly upon request and the replacement was fine - but 2 others at the table also had overcooked poached eggs. I couldn't finish the coffee. Disappointing - this place used to be full on Saturdays and excellent. An easy to obtain short notice brunch reservation should have been the warning that standards have slipped here.
