Editorial reviews from the web (2)

Strikingly beautiful young woman working through daunting psychological issues. In other words, the space is gorgeous - high ceilings, exposed brick, expertly finished wood walls, sleek bathrooms - but the wiring's flawed. Silly velvet rope situation outside, absurdly over-priced cocktails, aloof bartenders, lack of seating and blaring music from questionable DJs keep the girl down....

A bit small but it is a lounge and Industry Tuesdays are filled with kids that look like they're 18. Other than that; drink specials are always nice, nice bartender but I just wouldn't recommend this…

Tips about this business (4)

Sloane, from the team that opened Vessel and Fluid, is a bar disguised as a club disguised as a bar, in the space formerly known as Duplex. In other words, a good place to go when you don’t really know what kind of night you want to have. The abundant exposed brick, beautiful redwood bar and 20-foot ceilings--not to mention the chandelier made of 5000 tiny bottles--are pleasingly handsome, while the blue-lit, three story smoking room at the back recalls a science fiction movie. But, fantasies aside, Sloane seems to have many of the annoying parts about a club--long lines at the door and...

Know Before You Go

There's a cover, but the nightly R.S.V.P. list on Sloane's website is the only way to get in.

When to Go

Unless you crave really close personal contact, the best nights to come are Thursday and Sunday, when the crowds tend to be smaller.

The Extras

Guests can rent Sloane's lofted second floor for private parties.
