Before current ownership,was the greatest wine bar resterant in the area. Now it is just open on weekends and plays loud music and has a wiskey bar. It has lowered its class.

Pleasantly Surprised on First Visit

My husband and I had a quiet dinner at Sips about a week ago. No music that night just a very intimate and relaxing atmosphere. The place is small and was probably 90% full. Our waitress was attentive and engaging. My side salad was beautiful and the parmesan encrusted tilapia was phenomenal. The portion sizes are very generous. haven't yet had Sips coffee but gathered with friends on a (very empty) Friday evening for glasses of wine. Nice by the glass selection and let's face it Dayton doesn't offer much in the wine bar category. It'll do. Food choices to go with wine are dismal.

I tease my wife that this is a "foo foo" restaurant but the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Prices are a bit high and seem aimed at the crowd that will pay $4 for a cup of coffee. Try some of the more unusual combinations on the menu you'll be happy you did!
