Silvertone Bar & Grill Restaurant Review

Owner Josh Childs' winning formula --- solid bartending, comfort food at modest prices, and an attractively priced wine list --- draws a steady stream of post-work revelers from the Financial District and government buildings, pre-show concertgoers headed for the nearby Orpheum Theatre, and late-night collegians and hipsters. The space is dimly-lit, clean and minimalist (light wood, slate...

Devotees of this retro-cool basement restaurant with reasonable prices swear by the no-fuss options such as a truly addictive macaroni and cheese topped with crispy bacon, meat loaf with mashed potatoes, and steak tips. Among the more creative offerings are the appetizers, such as the Caesar salad with honey-chili chicken, and the fish of the day, which might be trout amandine or locally caught...

"The secret is out", and now "there's frequently a wait on weekends" for the "reasonably priced" American eats "done well" at this virtually "hidden" Downtown Crossing spot; the "relaxed", "small" subterranean space is a "great place" for "excellent drinks" "after work" too.

Proximity to Downtown offices, Boston Common, and tourist heavy Freedom Trail keeps the mix of patrons diverse. Fancy comfort food menu is decent to good, but cheap enough to be a draw anyway. Cocktails usually win us over, but the bar is small and...

It’s hard to relax when you’re freezing cold. The food here was interesting, prices were about right for what we received, but it could not have been more than 60 degrees inside. This together with indifferent service earns the Silverstone a solid 3.

My wife and I ducked into Silvertone to escape the cold and put off our long commute home. We were quickly greeted and ushered to our seats. I had the steak tacos which were delicious but only came with two. Most places serve three or...
