Spending an afternoon in Oakland Chinatown, Mom and I were looking for a place to eat. She wanted a hole-in-the-wall so we went to one. It was 45 deg outside and the air conditioning was full blast inside. We left and went to another place but their air was on too, and the kitchen & bathroom was disgusting. Classic feel to it, really big restaurant, in the middle of Chinatown in Oakland which is quite a bit cleaner and very much less cramped than SF Chinatown. The food here is very good and reasonably priced - entrees range from $8 - $13. The restaurant has three large floors, and at least one is used for banquets. Note that the doors will sadly close for good here in March.

Where have I been my whole life??? I've been sooo....occupied with trying new restaurants that I have forgotten what "" true "" Chinese food is like anymore until I stumbled back into The Silver Dragon Restaurant! May I also add that this place is the only restaurant IN Chinatown that as a bar! I've had the Peking duck here that is out of this world! The beef chow fun......the beef was soooo.....tender and the taste was spot on! Not too bland, and not too salty. So far,...I've gone back to try 25% of their menu. Now I can't wait to try the rest of the 75%.

This Chinatown staple has been serving up classic dishes for over 30 years. Large portions, tasty dishes and friendly service makes this a great stop either for the lunch crowd, or for a dinner. Patrons rave about the lettuce wraps. The restaurant also features two banquet rooms for special events on the second and third floors. Silver Dragon also features a full bar.
