A solid staple around Lake Merrit! Sidebar has friendly staff, great cocktails, a nice mellow atmosphere and the menu stands true. Love their burgers!!

Visiting Oakland, a local took me to Sidebar. I had no idea that Oakland had such a quant area as this lake, that seemed like an Oasis in the sometime challenging city. I have been to Oakland many times, but always downtown or at a sporting event. Not my favorite city.

Great Reuben, great smoked paprika fries, great bar

Enjoyed our late lunch at this wonderful cafe and bar by the lake. Possibly the best Reuben I've had. Very friendly, attentive and relaxed staff.

No vegan options on the menu, but they can improvise

This restaurant does not have even one vegan option on their menu (that's the bad news). The good news is that they are flexible enough to improvise and to create vegan options. Their food is good, but their drinks are a bit expensive.
