Help us make it rightOne of Manhattan's best choices for high-end Chinese food.
If you want inexpensive Cantonese food without pretensions head to Chinatown; but for those who prefer to be pampered and don't mind spending a lot of money, this is the place to be. The dramatically lighted dining room, accented by images of white dragons and monkeys, is across the street from Lincoln Center and appeals to a crowd that appreciates classic Chinese cuisine and diligent service....
Located across from Lincoln Center, Shun Lee West is an upscale Chinese restaurant specializing in serving trendy and eclectic cuisine.
At Michael Tong's UWS exemplar of "upscale" dining, "fancy" Chinese food is dispatched by a "top-drawer" team in an "exotic", black-lacquered space festooned with gilded dragons; sure, it's "high priced" and a bit "old-fashioned", but there's a reason why it's been a neighborhood "cornerstone" since the '80s.
A chic Chinese destination for those on their way to or from the Lincoln Center.
Eighties-chic version of its sedate east side sister spot. Décor is back in black with leather booths, slick lacquer walls, and animal sculptures commemorating the years in Chinese astrology. Extensive menu of grown-up Chinese food shows off delights like pickled jellyfish and mouthwatering Peking duck. Celebs love eating in the company of the immense good-luck dragon that encircles the dining...
This restaurant is a New York stand-by for haute Chinese cuisine, but continually tests out new versions alongside classic dishes.

The prices were a bit high, but the food was delicious.
Usually love Shun Lee...but this visit was disappointing. Although we had a reservation, and at a very early time (4:30 p.m.), we still ended up seated at a small table on the "balcony". Not really enough room on the table for the food we ordered. I understand that Saturday evening is prime time, but there were still plenty of larger tables available by the time we finished eating.
Shun Lee is a good Chinese place to eat. Food is always consist.
Quality Chinese food. Enjoyed the experience. Very good hot n sour soup. Never had lamb at a Chinese restaurant, decided to give it a shot, and it was cooked beautifully, and the sauce that accompanied it, was terrific. No complaints. Will be back.

Vegetarian, Asian: This chic address is just a short walk from Lincoln Center. Shiny black lacquer dominates the interior and is complemented by dream-like elements — the alabaster monkeys that dance around the bar, the gold and red dragon encircling one dining room. The adjacent dim sum café is more retro with its black and white tiles. The menu, meanwhile, focuses on "haute" versions of...

Shun Lee West is just as palatial and “haute-bourgeois” as its East Side counterpart, Shun Lee Palace, and maintains the same time-honored excellence since 1981 that has kept Michael Tong among the reigning dynasties in Gotham’s golden age of Chinese cuisines.
