For those who know that there's far more to Japanese cuisine than sushi (and for those looking for a new dining experience), Shiki fits the bill. The warm colors and cheery decor of this basement-level restaurant create a welcoming… Read More
The entrance is a bit hidden, but for quality, authentic Japanese food, this place is worth seeking out! We tried the sushi which was fresh and flavorful.
I don't claim to have extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine in greater Boston, but I have tried a few, and this is clearly my favorite. A small, friendly place in a basement near Coolidge Corner. I have gone there several times, both for lunch and dinner, and was always pleased. It is usually well frequented, but never crowded or noisy.

Traditional Japanese food is served in a simple setting. So authentic is their menu that it is written in both Japanese and English as Bostonians with Japanese roots find Shiki to be a taste of home. Be sure to eat more than...
