The entrance is a bit hidden, but for quality, authentic Japanese food, this place is worth seeking out! We tried the sushi which was fresh and flavorful.

I don't claim to have extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine in greater Boston, but I have tried a few, and this is clearly my favorite. A small, friendly place in a basement near Coolidge Corner. I have gone there several times, both for lunch and dinner, and was always pleased. It is usually well frequented, but never crowded or noisy.

Great food and sake. Not your everyday Japanese restaurant. This is a small plates restaurant with unusual and delicious offerings.

I started with a...

Shiki is not the type of place you'd stroll past and assume they had some of the best Japanese food in all of Boston, but once you eat there, you'll long for a return trip. Traditional Japanese food is served in a simple setting. So authentic is their menu that it is written in both Japanese and English as Bostonians with Japanese roots find Shiki to be a taste of home. Be sure to eat more than...
