I've volunteered and interned at the wetlands conservancy across the street for a while, and when I was first there some of the staff would go occasionally go out to get lunch and asked if I wanted Secret Spot. How do you screw up a grilled cheese? Horrible. Bread wasn't even slightly toasted. It was like melted cheese on regular old bread. Ugh.

This tiny place, tucked in a strip mall catty-corner from Bolsa Chica State Beach (you can see the RV's), is a favorite among local surfers, vegetarians and those who simply enjoy getting tasty, plentiful food on the run. The friendly, laid-back staff makes smoothies and big-as-a-brick burritos and wraps fresh while you wait, using vegan, vegetarian and raw ingredients (it's even dolphin safe)....
