Sanford Golf Club, an old Donald Ross course, provides everything you would expect from a Ross design; little trouble from tee to green, but very tricky once you get there. The greens are tiny and very subtly contoured. It's a challenge and a real joy to play. And the rates are unbelievably low. This course is one of my favorites now and I'll go back often.
I have played SMGC for a number of years as well as many of my friends. This course is a good example of the Donald Ross design which made the man a legend in golf course design history. Played here a few times over the years, and this is the best condition I have seen the course in several years. Classic Ross type design with some challenging holes, but fair to most golfers.
